The NEWADA duo project strengthens cooperation between the administrations responsible for maintaining the Danube waterway. The main goal of the NEWADA duo is to ensure unimpeded navigation throughout the Danube. This has been achieved through the application of two different approaches. First of all, administrations responsible for the maintenance of the Danube have made more efforts in coordinating their activities, thus enabling the level of services provided in connection with Danube infrastructure to be unified. Secondly, more direct contacts have been made with the users of the waterway so that the services can be adapted in accordance with their specific needs.
Pilot activities have been carried out on selected stretches of the river and concepts have been developed providing the basis for follow-up activities that will be proposed for funding by various European instruments, allowing for large investments in infrastructure and river exploration and maintenance equipment.
The consortium consists of all Danubian organizations responsible for the maintenance of the waterway (9 partners from 7 countries), with coordination with other relevant organizations.
