The progress of the DISMAR project, funded under the INTERREG VI-A Romania–Bulgaria Programme, was reviewed at a Steering Committee meeting held in mid-July in Comana, Romania. The meeting was attended by representatives of the two project partners – the River Administration of the Lower Danube (AFDJ) and the Executive Agency for Exploration and Maintenance of the Danube River (EAEMDR) as well as experts from the Ministries of Regional Development of Bulgaria and Romania, Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure in Romania and the Joint Secretariat of the Programme.
Participants discussed the technical and financial status of the project and the ongoing joint public procurements for floating and coastal navigation signals and vessels for their maintenance.
An IT platform is being currently developed to enhance navigation safety and efficiency. The platform will serve as an information system for monitoring and managing navigation aids, providing real-time data on the status of floating buoys in the common Bulgarian–Romanian section of the Danube River.
During the meeting, the Testing and Evaluation Plan was also presented. It focuses on assessing the reliability and efficiency of the integrated marking system, including the timelines and methods for analyzing the results of tests on marking vessels and navigation signals.
