The Executive Agency “Exploration and Maintenance of the Danube River” (EAEMDR) has received the first part of new equipment that will enhance navigation safety along the Bulgarian section of the Danube River.
In recent days, the Agency received over 1000 new coastal signs, delivered under the DISMAR project, funded by the Interreg VI-A Romania - Bulgaria Program.
The new acquisition includes 528 pcs. non-illuminated coastal navigation signs, 472 pcs. kilometer signs and 20 pcs. signs for coastal lighthouse, which will be installed along the riverbank.
The delivery contract was signed earlier this summer following a public procurement procedure, with total value 299,000 leva (VAT included).
The DISMAR Project is a joint initiative between the river administrations of Bulgaria and Romania, aiming to improve navigation safety and information infrastructure along the common section of the Danube River.
In addition to the coastal signs, within the framework of the project, floating navigational signs (buoys) will be delivered, as well as two non-self-propelled vessels, one for each of the partners, which will be used to service the coastal signs. Furthermore, a joint information system for monitoring and managing the navigational signs along the common Bulgarian–Romanian section of the river will be developed and implemented.
